Melissa Murphy Duda is a certified teacher of Elementary Education since 1987, Kripalu YogaDanceTM, Motional Processing (for adults), Yoga Nidra(R) and in Children’s Yoga through RCYP at the Kripalu Ctr. She is also a registered Music Together teacher. Her 2 sons, aged 21 and 14, have actively participated in her classes, much to her delight. Melissa has over a decade of Early Childhood teaching and assistant directing experience at the Friends’ Neighborhood Nursery School in NJ, the Helen Gander Friends’ School and The Preschool Center, both in CT. She has been a Movement and Music specialist for The Preschool Center, Trinity Day School, Linda’s Little People and the Montessori Schools of N.W. CT. respectively. For the past 19 years, Melissa has also taught many self-designed programs in the Arts, for children and teachers alike. This includes; Art at WAA, The Renaissance Ctr., Dance at New Milford Dance Ctr., Rainbow Dance Ctr., Creative Arts Studio, Main Street Ballet, The Westover School & for the Southbury/Woodbury Parks & Rec. She has been the Theater Director at Harvesting Hope Culture Camp for 12 consecutive summers in Woodbury, CT. Melissa has performed with The SoundBody Production Co. and the Grumbling Gryphons Traveling Children’s Theater Co. based in CT. Melissa has studied Movement Therapy, African dance & Yoga, rehearsed with the Gilbert Paris Dance Co. in NY and has taught dance to adults at NVCTC, for the Adult Continuing Ed. Programs of Newtown, Woodbury, & Southbury CT as well as assisting programs at OMEGA and KRIPALU. Sunnyfield Studio was established in 1998. Melissa believes in the healing power of movement & arts to cultivate joy and create community.
